The AHE Cross Country is open to all home educators in the Auckland Region.

We look forward to seeing you all at our Cross Country!

Registrations will open approx. 5 weeks before the event and close on 11th August (evening). Please be aware that late or on the day registrations will not be accepted.

This year we will also have a 500m parents’ race if there is enough interest!

Approximate distances (subject to change):

Preschool and year 1 – 500m (around the field)

Year 2, 3, 4 – 1.4km

Year 5, 6, 7, 8 – 2.6 km

Year 9+ – 4km

10:00 am                              Check in opens

10.30 am                              Parents race

10.40 am                              500m Year 0+1 (3, 4, 5 year olds)

10.55-11.45am                   Year 2 – 4 races (6, 7, 8 year olds)

11:45am                               Junior Prizegiving

12:00-1.10pm                     Year 5-13 races (9+ year olds)

1:10 pm                                Senior Prizegiving

 

Prizegiving

Certificates will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place girls and boys in each year level, with high school years combined due to smaller numbers. Preschool (3+4 year olds) will be counted as one year level also.

Participation certificates will be available.

All entrants will receive a small treat and sausage on finishing.

Additional sausages and cold drinks will be available for purchase – Southside Drama will be selling these as a fundraiser.

Safety Notes:
This is a park with open water, moving vehicles, wildlife, and the general public. Parents will be responsible for their own children during the event. This is not a drop and leave event.

On registration please let us know if your child may have any medical concerns (sting allergies, asthma etc) during the event. We will have a first aid kit on site but ensure you bring personal medications your child may need.

The route will be wet underfoot and muddy in places – entrants should have suitable shoes. Ensure you have enough water/drink for your family. Please take all your rubbish home with you.

This will be smoke free (inc. vaping) and alcohol free event.

Requirements for runners:

  • Running shoes
  • Sun Protection (hat, sunscreen lotion)
  • Plastic/tarpaulin to sit on
  • Water bottle

Please note: as with all AHE events, parents are responsible for the the safety and care of their own children. Please ensure you actively supervise the children in your care.
